3 VIRGIN DAUGHTERS

A Mother had 3 virgin daughters and they were all
getting married within a short time period.
Because Mom was a bit worried about how their sex life
would get started, she made them all promise to send a
postcard from the honeymoon with a few words on how marital sex felt.

The first girl sent a card from Nakuru two days after
the wedding. The card said nothing but "Nescafe." Mom
was puzzled at first, but then went to the kitchen and
got out the Nescafe jar. It said: "Good till the last drop."

Mom blushed, but was pleased for her daughter.
The second girl sent the card from Mombasa a week after
the wedding, and the card read: "Benson & Hedges".Mom
now knew to go straight to her husband's
cigarettes, and she read from the Benson & Hedges pack:
"Extra Long. King Size. She was again slightly
embarrassed but still happy for her daughter.

The third girl left for her honeymoon to Kakamega Mom
waited for a week, nothing. Another week went by and
still nothing. Then after a whole month, a card
finally arrived. Written on it with
shaky handwriting were the words "Kenya Airways."
Mom took out her latest Standard Newspaper Digger
Classified pages, flipped through the pages fearing
the worst, and finally found the ad for KQ. The ad
said: "Three times a day, seven days a week, both ways."

Mom fainted...

ASHIMBA LIVE!!!

Ashimba Updates & Profile - January 2010

Ashimba – Updates

In 2009 Ashimba went to Europe to perform three times. The tours brought him to Denmark, Finland and Spain. He also did some performances in Ethiopia. The first tour was arranged by Maisha Music and brought Ashimba to some of the biggest venues in Denmark. A very pleasant surprise of the tour was the spontaneous collaboration between Ashimba and Pandeiro Repique Duo from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The duo consists of the two excellent young percussionists Bernardo Aguiar, playing Pandeiro and Gabriel Policarpo, playing Repenique. Maisha Music is busy organizing an East African tour for Ashimba & Pandeiro Repique Duo in March 2010.

Ashimba’s video “Yaya” has just been released. The music video is produced by Real2Reel Film Productions and it was shot in Mwananyamala. The video is still at the East African TV’s Top 20 Chart and has reached number 10 around New Year. Ashimba will soon start recording his second album. The album is going to be more acoustic and mellow in the sound than “Nuru Nyikani”.

Ashimba is now ready to continue his performances in Tanzania. Furthermore he is invited to perform at the Blankets & Wine event in Nairobi in February. If you are a journalist, radio promoter or have other professional interests in seeing Ashimba Live, please write us an email at info@maishamusic.com and we will put your name on the guestlist for the show at Alliance Francaise.

Friday the 5th of February, 19:00: The Yacht Club, Dar es Salaam

Ashimba - Biography/Profile

Ashimba is a Tanzanian singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Bagamoyo and Dar es Salaam. He released his debut album “Nuru Nyikani” in January 2009 and the album has been well received by the local media and the public. Ashimba has a unique style that combines his roots in the East African traditional music, his mastering of different Tanzanian languages and a very playful voice. The essence of the songs is strong African melodies and lyrics with roots in the Tanzanian music tradition.

Acoustically the music of Ashimba stands out and will enchant the audience on its own. However, the producer of the debut album, Jakob Poll, with his electronic and curious approach to world music has added the songs a captivating electronic and contemporary sound. The lyrics are telling stories about life as a young man, it tells stories of Tanzanian tradition, of the problems of Tanzania and of family or women loved or lost. “I write lyrics about people and about life in Africa, about everyday problems as well as joy and happiness. People are what interests me…” explains Ashimba.
